We gave Matcherator and WhatTheFont only one Korean image. Neither returned a Korean font, so we skipped the other three (WhatTheFont’s page says the text should be Latin).
Which one to use
- Latin text, likely a free font: Font Squirrel Matcherator. It selected the whole line on its own and put the right family first for most of our free-font samples.
- Korean (Hangul) text: Sandoll Cloud’s font finder. After uploading you must click one word box to search.
- Script or connected letters: none of the three identified Pacifico. Crop to letters that don’t touch.
- WhatTheFont: with our free-font samples it only suggested similar paid fonts. Results may differ for commercial fonts (not tested here).
How we tested
- Samples: one line of black 110px text on a white 1600×320 PNG. Latin “Quick Brown Fox Jumps” (Roboto, Lora, Montserrat 700, Playfair Display, Oswald 500, Pacifico); Korean “다람쥐 헌 쳇바퀴에 타고파” (Noto Sans KR, Nanum Myeongjo, Black Han Sans, Jua). Drawn in the browser from Google Fonts with the same code each time.
- Selection: WhatTheFont auto-selected the last word, Matcherator auto-selected the whole line, and Sandoll Cloud needs a click, so we chose the first word.
- Scoring: a hit means the same family name appeared in the top 10–12 results.
- Tested 2026-09-29 in desktop Chrome, signed out. All three showed results within about 10 seconds of upload (WhatTheFont measured at 9–13 s).
Privacy note
All three send your image to their servers. Sandoll Cloud states that uploading an image counts as agreeing to its terms. Crop out anything personal before uploading.
